Although DANTES does not provide financial assistance, the "non-traditional" programs this agency sponsors may be used by service members in place of Tuition Assistance, to save time and money while earning a degree.

Credit-by-Exams; challenging the commercial CLEP and DSST exams in lieu of course requirements, allows students to earn upper and lower division "ACE Recommended" college credit for what they already know, based on their school's credit awarding policy.

College Entrance; DANTES funds ACT and SATs administered at DANTES Test Sites and reimburses test fees for ACT, SAT, GRE and GMAT exams taken at National/International Test Centers.

DANTES partners with DoD and SOC to provide members with certificates in Career and Technical Education (SOC CTE) which is funded through their GI Bill Program.

The support tools available through DANTES assist members who are considering college for the first time, going back to college or interested in brushing up on their basic skills. Additional services include programs for choosing TA-approved schools and identifying schools that support transferability while completing a 2 and 4 year degree.
